OUR MISSION

Help students understand where they are, what they need and what to do next.

Students are asked to make important academic, college, athletic and career decisions while information is often scattered across different people, systems and deadlines. Elevate Compass was created to make that journey easier to understand and easier to manage.

Prepare today. Succeed tomorrow.
OUR APPROACH

The whole student matters.

Elevate is broader than a college application service or athletic recruiting service. The pathway connects the areas that shape long-term student opportunity.

Academic Readiness

Habits, requirements, progress and preparation.

College Pathway

Options, timelines, admissions and informed decisions.

Student Development

Leadership, activities, accountability and future direction.

Athletic Pathways

Athletic goals connected to academics and realistic college options.

Career Exploration

Interests, majors, careers and changing opportunities.

Family Guidance

Clearer information so parents can support without managing every detail.

FOUNDER STORY

From Puerto Rico to Carolina. From athlete to student-development leader.

Orlando Meléndez is a Puerto Rico-based sports, education and student-development professional whose path connects athletics, academics and leadership. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1998 to 2001 after being recruited by legendary coach Dean Smith on a full NCAA Division I scholarship. He played in the UNC basketball program under Bill Guthridge and was part of two Final Four teams before earning a B.A. in History and Communications in 2001.

That foundation led to a years-long journey through professional basketball, international community engagement, youth development and public sports leadership. As a Harlem Globetrotter from 2008 to 2021, he gained extensive experience in travel, promotions, marketing, community engagement and youth-facing programming. He later served as Director of Sports & Recreation for the Municipality of Ponce and as Executive Director of the Carlos Beltrán Baseball Academy, where he led education-centered student-athlete development while managing academics, athletics, partnerships, compliance and institutional growth.

Why Elevate Compass exists

Students and families should not have to navigate academics, college preparation, athletic development, eligibility, scholarships, admissions and career decisions without a clear roadmap. Elevate Compass exists to help students prepare earlier, make better-informed decisions and move toward opportunity with structure, guidance and confidence.

THE JOURNEY BEHIND THE MISSION

Built from experience. Focused on what comes next.

Basketball is part of the founder story and credibility, but the mission stays centered on students, families and educational opportunity. Elevate Compass supports the full student journey across sport, academics and future readiness.
