Built from Puerto Rico roots. Guided by real opportunity.
Orlando Meléndez grew up with a deep understanding of how athletics, education, leadership and family support shape a student’s future. He attended the University of North Carolina on a full NCAA Division I basketball scholarship, played in the UNC program under Bill Guthridge, and was part of two Final Four teams before earning a B.A. in History and Communications. His later work as a Harlem Globetrotter and municipal sports leader expanded his perspective on youth development, community engagement and high-quality program leadership. Those experiences converged in Elevate Compass: a clearer, more human way to help students and families navigate academics, college pathways, athletics, scholarships, admissions and career decisions with confidence.
